Week 3 - Book Week Fun

This week, we celebrated Book Week at Halswell School.

There were lots of activities happening around our school. Different teachers read to us, we hunted for painted rocks and there were colouring competitions in the library. Here are some of the highlights.

Mr McCallum read us some really funny books as well as a spooky one!

We had so much fun dressing up as our favourite book characters. We had a parade so that everybody at Halswell School could see our amazing costumes.

A Glimpse of Swimming in Ahuriri

The children are loving the start of our swimming programme.  Thank you to all the parents that are able to help out with changing afterwards. Here are some snap shots of our day!

Walking in a line to the bus.

We always have a friendly bus driver.

We remember to say "Hello" to the bus driver.

At the pool in our swimming groups, there is plenty of space.

Our clothes are laid out for us to get changed afterwards.

Some of our parents have spare time to come and watch us swim.

We have the best instructors!

Afterwards, we sometimes get time for a game!

Swimming continues next week. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and other family members who have helped us with changing the children. The lessons are progressing very well and the children are having a splashing good time whilst improving their water confidence and skills.

Mihi Whakatau Term 4

Today we had a traditional welcoming ceremony called a Mihi Whakatau.  We welcomed in the new children in T4 and our new teacher in T4, Kathryn Hartnell.  The older children sing a welcome waiata and then we all sing Te Aroha together.
