Ahuriri Visit the Museum and Gardens

We couldn’t have asked for a better day for our trip to the museum and gardens.  The sun shone, the museum presenter was perfect, the cool morning tea tree was unoccupied, our parent helps were amazing, we had the playground to ourselves and the children were absolutely gorgeous.  We are just so proud of their behaviour, manners and their excitement when learning.  We really do have to say a huge thank you to all of you that managed to help us on the day.  We were so happy to see so many lovely helpers that made the day run so smoothly.

The Museum Story

'The day started with an exciting bus trip as we had a really cool bendy bus! We then went into the museum and into the Discovery Centre where Anthony showed us the giant honey bee. He grossed us out by telling us the stories of how bees make honey (Ask your child...you will be grossed out!). We then were allowed free play with fossil hunting.

Morning Tea was in the giant tree's branches that loved to be climbed in. We also had some very friendly, cheeky ducks that tried to steal our sandwiches.

Then it was the museum exploration time! We went to sit in the dinosaur footprint, stand under the world, climb on the penny farthing, ride the huge horse, marvel at the dinosaur, go through the dark, dark tunnel, climb the starry steps and just be amazed.

It was a long walk to lunch but it was worth it because afterwards we were able to play on the playground and we had it all to ourselves. We had a great trip with all of our classes!'
